Think of it. Kids from different places, different background, different cultures, and different ages all fill up this choir. Through all of your differences, you are able to make the most ethereal music I have ever heard or had the privilege to be a part of. Each of you has something special to bring. Nothing you will ever experience will equate to the magic that is the Spivey Hall Children's Choir.”
The Spivey Hall Children’s Choir is the largest ensemble of the program, featuring some 120 singers ages 10 to 18.
Dr. Martha Shaw, artistic director of the program, conducts this choir as well as its advanced counterpart, the Spivey Hall Tour Choir.
This select ensemble is the traveling performance group for the choir program. Students in Tour Choir commit to a more extensive rehearsal and performance schedule, including an annual summer tour.
As cultural ambassadors of the State of Georgia, the Tour Choir has performed to acclaim throughout the United States, as well as in Canada, Sweden, Norway, England, Austria, the Czech Republic, China, and Scotland.
They have also professionally recorded four CDs.
Founded in the fall of 2002, the Spivey Hall Young Artists features 60 students ages 10 through 13.
Under the direction of Craig Hurley, this preparatory choir performs a wide range of repertoire and equips singers with the skills they need to participate in the Spivey Hall Children’s Choir.
